rate is 6.8% fixed for 5 yrs - we were going to get a personal loan after completion to do some work the loan would work out £60 a month more than the mortgage with chelsea with the cashback. so going for the cashback.

Found their administration to be a complete nightmare. Took them four months to sort out a simple remortgage. In the end, they paid me £300 compensation.

Do they still charge annual interest calculations on mortgages? This was another reason I moved to Nationwide.
  • Thanks for your views on this all. Anymore are welcomed :-)

Just to let you know, we decided to go with them for the remotgage. Application sent in, and within 5 days valuation was done, and within 7 days had the offer.

Just pushing it through now for completion on our preferred date.

Fantastic service so far (touch wood!) and a good deal for us too.

I'm hoping to go with them in November if they're still offering the cashback deal. Looks quite good to me. Works out cheaper than my loan :)

    Hi Guys

we went with the chelsea cos we needed a new car and the casback worked out alot cheaper, problem was my husbands job was relocated and we ended up having to move house, even though we were willing to stay with them for our new house we still had to pay back the 4.5k and there was only 6 months left on the tie in. I was gutted! other than that they were very quick with the initial application, so unless you know for definite that you wont be moving house or mortgage within 5 years then great. otherwise i would stay well clear.

    regards

Dont know if they have changed the terms, but our fixed rate is portable.
