The Palate 2013
The Palate is Oddbins' search for the UK's finest amateur wine taster. Many people think that wine tasting is in some way complicated or elitist. If you enter The Palate, we will prove that it isn't, it's easy, fun and anyone can do it. We know this because we've been monitoring the talents of the UK's taste buds for 50 years and there has never been a more impressive bunch than you guys. If you want in on the action, it is completely free to enter…
Round One
Round One takes place in all our shops on 1-2 and 8-9 June 2013. To find your nearest shop, simply click here. You will be asked to take part in a blind tasting (i.e. you can't see the bottle) of one red and one white wine. You'll then be asked to circle a few answers on a multiple choice postcard. It's as simple as that.
Those with the top 150 scores will progress to the Quarter Final. And we'll give each of the top 150 a bottle of wine for your troubles when you come back in to enter the...
Quarter Final
Another blind tasting awaits you in the Quarter Finals, which will be held in your local Oddbins shops on the weekend of 29-30 June 2013. But the questions will become a little more challenging!
We will then whittle the field down to just the top 75, who will pick up another wine-based prize when they are invited back to take part in the…
Semi Final
The final blind tasting will be held in your local Oddbins on the weekend of 20-21 July. Those still in the competition will be properly put through their paces. The top 10 will be invited to enter…
The Final
Our 10 lucky finalists will then take part in a wine tasting boot camp in London with Saturday Kitchen regulars and real life Masters of Wine, Susie Barrie MW and Peter Richards MW. Susie and Peter will then choose the best four to progress to face the toughest challenge of all, to determine who will be crowned The Palate 2013."
