Yet again PPI claim

Ok so no doubt somewhere here someone has already answered this but it is impossible for me to scan every single post so I do apologise! I had MASSES of various debt, store cards and catalogues at one point which over a long period of time managed to pay off. Obviously in recent years the whole PPI thing has emerged which initially I have to admit I ignored thinking it was pointless as I have no paperwork, account numbers, infact anything relating to these old debts. A friend keep nudging me to try to find out if I can claim anything back but as time passes I'm aware this would be incredibly difficult. Most of the debt goes back at least 10 years if not more. Is there any point me attempting to pursue this or should I put it down to bad filing! Also where would I even begin?!
Thanks for any advice

It is possible after 10 years data may have been destroyed, contact the companies direct and ask if they can find you on the system, if they don't then you could send a Sar request, this costs £10 per account unless you have more than one financial product with one company then one payment will suffice.

If there is no data after your search then you will have to let these go, contact the companies and ask first, you may get lucky rather than wasting money chasing accounts that there is no info for.

You will also need good reasons for mis sell if you had PPI on any accounts.

A SAR request to each potential lender could prove very expensive at £10 a pop, so I'd just start with the most likely candidates and see how you get on with those.
As Amersall says, not only do you need some evidence that you had PPI, you will also need valid mis-selling reasons.

I called around to who I remembered, Lloyds, Santander & Virgin all had dedicated PPI people. As long as you know the addresses from when you had the debts they should be able to find you, then they can tell you over the phone if you had any product & if you had ppi. Of the 3 I called I had ppi with 2 companies & in each case they processed the claim form over the phone.
I don't respond to stupid so that's why I am ignoring you.

Did you have historical finance over ten years old with these companies though? In addition, are you still a customer?
