bank account for tourist

Hello,

I am Chinese Nation coming to UK as tourist (Tourist Visa) for couple of months. During my visit there, I will be buying shares of a limited company and get dividend quarterly or annually.

I never been to UK before, hence no financial link (bank accounts etc) but I need one current account to get the dividends transferred. I have looked into Google but all banks need UK residency which I don’t have at the moment. Not even sure if my visit as a tourist will be counted as residence.

Could someone please help to let me know which particular bank can open an account for me ?

Many thanks,
Lawrence Laung

You won't be able to open an account as a tourist. Perhaps you could find a bank in China that has branches in the UK who would allow you to open one - HSBC would be the obvious one, but others such as Bank of China also have a presence in the UK.

Perhaps you could arrange with the company to take your dividends in the form of additional shares rather than money?

Getting a bank account would be one challenge. Finding a broker through whom you can buy the shares is another.

If you want to buy shares on the LSE (or AIM), your best bet would be finding a broker in China that offers LSE/AIM shares.

    No chance.

you need some type of 'legal stay'

Im in china as i type this post and you can use your China Merchants Bank or china Construction Bank card in certain stores that accept UNION PAY.

unless if you have the cash open an HSBC account in china and use it in UK.

I wouldn't do that, as it's the sh!ttest bank in china and UK.

    TRUST ME.

HSBC in china would be a best choice (if you have the cash.)
