  • Where are you traveling from ? Where are you staying? I think you definitely need a friends and family card, if you can hold on te daily mail will be giving a code out soon with £10 off one x
  • Oh and when are you going?

I've been looking at London myself the past few days so may be able to help x

want to leave the day before festival so leaving on 16th Aug and want to return on 19th Aug, booked into the travel lodge near alexandra palace as that where the festival is being held
  • Best site to get cheap tickets I find is virgin fare finder , you'll find it through google.. It's cheaper if there is a station near you than the normal virgin train website, they don't go from our local station but its cheaper for me to buy tickets from the next town to London , then return tickets from our town to the next than buy direct to London if you know what I mean..

Watford travel lodge and premier in have some great prices at the moment, especially Sunday-Wednesday.. Both are in walking distance of Watford central station .. From there it is about 20mins into the centre of London... My sister and I took 2 boys last year and I think it's cost about £18 for train tickets for the day (using the railcard) but we could use them on the underground and everything ..

    Good luck x

Best off to ask in the public transport section of the forum I think. Its a minefield when buying tickets but i think a disabled persons railcard will be better as you get a discount too for being your sons carer.

Enjoy London, its a fantastic city I love living here since I moved down :)

the cheapest advance fares usually go on sale 10-12 weeks before travel (so around about now for dates in mid-August). Play around on the rail network provider for the Plymouth - London journey and see what prices you can get for the full price, for the family & friends railcard, and for the disabled persons railcard. That should help you decide which one is best for you (check the terms and conditions though, to make sure you can use either railcard).

eta - I think its First Great Western that runs the trains on that journey -

Megabus go from Plymouth to London if you don't mind travelling by coach. Might be worth checking out fares.
