Hi,
I'm u unsure on where I can take the kids for a few days away in the summer.
Happy to stay in a travel lodge or something but would have to be easy to get to via train or happy to go to a caravan so dh can bring the dogs in which case wed have a car so doesn't matter if off the beaten track a little...
Been looking at haven so the teenagers have a swimming pool etc but that seems to have shot up this year, also been looking at a travel lodge near London but not sure I want to go there with 3 teenagers on my own as one has special needs and might freak out with the busyness
Any ideas greatly welcome x
Edited to add, if caravan / lodge it would have to be within a few hours of Preston

You could look at the Dailymail offer as for example a 3 night break from 19th July at Park Resorts Ty Mawr is £20 per person, per break in Luxury accomodation, £23 in luxury+ or £35 in premier, plus a £2.50 booking fee. Seems to be under 2 hours away from Preston. Scarbourough for the same dates £35 per person, per break, Morpeth £23 per person, Ashington £20 per person. There are some Haven resorts on the offer and some other dates, in July but these are the ones I could see in the school holidays.

Hi, husband and I plus 1 large dog have just come back from a mid week break at Park resorts. We took advantage of a last minute deal and stayed in a Bronze caravan(they take dogs).
Lovely indoor pool and across the road from the beach.
They do a bit of entertaining. Zumba 11am, Daily trivia, football, water exercises.
You could book a 3 bed caravan and you could all go?
www.park-resorts.com you could start with ordering a brochet online? The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0 -
My teens enjoyed a short break away in Liverpool last year. I don't know about the trains from Preston to Liverpool as we went from London and drove. We stayed in the Premier Inn at Albert Docks which had nice big family rooms. My husband went a couple of months ago on business and stayed at the Liverpool One hotel and said it was good too. They have family saver rooms during the school summer holidays for £39 per night. We got 2for 1 vouchers for the Beatles Experience. There are some good free entry museums there and also you can visit the cavern during the day for free. There is the Liverpool duck boat there that is like the one in London and a Liverpool wheel.0

There are buses or trains you can get to New Brighton/Wallsey Beach from Liverpool centre if the weather is good. There is a Travelodge almost on the seafront there too if you wanted a couple of days in a hotel in the Centre and a day at a hotel by the seaside. It has a cinema, bowling and lazer place and a Whetherspoons or Morrisons for meals near the TL.

That train prices and journey sound fab & once in town you dont need a car as what you want to see is walkable or a quick train/bus journey . Its a funny one depending on what your teenages likes are. My 16yo DD loves the beatles and music in general / beatles history but Liverpool center is half hour away from our house so she is there often and knows whats on and wheres best to go . Day & early evening. Museaums are great and interesting in Liverpool some modern and some showing liverpool life past . hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

Welcome Family Holiday Park in Dawlish is 5 minutes walk from Dawlish Warren Train station and from a blue flag beach. Great entertainment and indoor pools, Free crazy golf and free wifi around the whole park. There are also buses to Torbay and Exeter so there is plenty to do even if its not really beach weather.0
