Well done, you're part way there on the Elec - To get action WRITE that Complaint letter
BUT, the new start figure of 21247 still gives an Elec consumption of 6,078 Kwh over 10 months, which is nearly double what would be expected from the lifestyle and house details you have posted - Take meter readings one week apart to establish what your present use is and post them here.
Did n'power not give you the Gas reading on their Final Bill ?0 -
No, they were unable to give me the Gas reading today, they say they will send both gas and electric final readings to me through the post.
I have emailed FU telling them I have the final reading from NPower and that I will be leaving them asap, I will be writing a complaint letter though, thanks again!!!!0 -
I have read this thread with interest as I am also with First Utility tho on a fixed tariff so not hit by price increases. I have the option of either paying by fixed dd (which they determine and inevitably leads to my account building up credit) or variable dd whereby I pay for what I've used each month. Needless to say, I choose the latter!0

I had a bill come through for over £1700 from FU for 1 months usage. It took me about 6 months to sort it out, but it did get sorted. (They had put an incorrect figure into their system). I dealt with customer case management executive and between us it did get sorted out, good guy and said yeah we can see it's messed up and we will sort it out. They are in the middle of migrating all customers onto a new system so we enter all our meter reads online (I know they've got one now but my account won't allow me input reads... and I'd imagine allot of other people can't). I'm just going to ride out the wave, keep sending my meter reads every month and see if their new system is a success, if not I will switch provider.0

Well the saga continues with First Utility!
I have now had a bil from them this morning for £707.29. I have emailed them several times and receive a generic reply, I have told them I cannot afford to pay them that amount in full and would like to be put onto a payment plan.
When I ring them I wait for anything from 25 minutes to 45 minutes!!!!
I hate this company and can't wait to get away from them, my 12 months is up in July and hope I can jump ship then.
I have to say it did'nt help that they only took £59 per month from July to December 12 for joint fuel bill, even though I was emailing my readings to them monthly, I raised it myself to £100 in January.0 -

Why, after you emailed them the first time this morning receiving a generic response, did you continue to waste your time sending them more emails today? :huh:0 -

The generic replies were after I'd been in touch previously having had my bill online and a demand for over £800 arrears. and me explaining to them the history of my time with them.
I have now thanks to another poster who gave me a different telephone number managed to speak to someone and set up a payment plan over the next 12 months to pay off the arrears.
I will be leaving FU in September when my fixed deal ends.0
