Moving from Scotland to London university?

Hi,
Looking for some advice, i have been offered a promotion which involves relocating from Glasgow to London. My partner is currently starting her last year of university - 4th Year (Hons) at Glasgow university in Sept. I am moving in August this year and would really like her and my son to move with me, has any one had any experience moving universities? , how easy?
How many years do the English study?
Currently her course is funded by SAAS, i am aware the new laws have came into place where new students pay fees however does this apply to existing students in Scotland who undertaken their course prior to these laws being introduced. If it is not possible to move university and have her last year funded by a gov scheme , what are the costs of tuition?
FYI - Her course is BA Business Law
Many thanks in advance,
Thomas

Very complicated...
A degree in England is generally a three-year course, and it would be appropriate for her to go into the final year. However, English and Scots law are different, and this might create problems for her.
And surely she is doing an MA: I thought that a BA in Scotland was a three-year course.
All students at universities in England pay tuition fees, and these are generally nine thousand pounds per year.
There are some brilliant trains between London and Scotland: I think you are likely to become a regular passenger.0 -
I would suggest that she talks to some of her tutors at Glasgow Uni to see if it's even possible to do such a transfer, if her current course has been oriented to Scots law then as Voyager says it'll be complicated. Is there any possibility of completing the final year by distance learning (even if it takes 2 years rather than 1)?
She also needs to consider how a law degree from Scotland will be viewed by employers if she wants to get a job in London - perhaps it might be an option to do, say, the last 2 years of an English degree with the 3 years already done taken as a foundation in law in general. Even then I don't know where she'd stand about getting a tuition fee loan for study in England having already studied in Scotland.0 -
Thanks very much for your reply's, very good points regarding the Scots law and English law; something we will have to consider.
No the BA Honours degree is a 4 year course. The 3 year course will achieve her an ordinary degree, i believe in England an honours is achieved after 3 years.
Yea i think you may be right, it sounds like flights back and forth may be the better option. My company do have an office here so possibility to work from Scotland from time to time.
Thanks for your responses.0 -
It could be worth her while to contact the Open University to consider topping up her degree to honours with a couple of OU units.0

My fiancee and I were on opposite sides of the Atlantic for a year due to studying/working at different locations. It's more common than you think.
She's had students take night buses from Glasgow to attend the course she's teaching on now in london and even fly from Madrid every week .
Your partner's degree won't be compatible with any she can complete down south, I'm pretty certain. Regular long distance travel's your only real answer I'm afraid. Unless she contacts Dundee which does both Scots and English law but even then I don't know how much help that will be.There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
You should be aware that very few (if any) universities will take students straight into their third year.
I also think that commuting is going to be your best option - in reality, she's only going to be at uni for 6 or 7 months next year, given the holidays.
It will be worth it in the end!0 -

This is clearly the answer to all the OP's problems: go to the Punjbab (Pakistan) and study engineering.0 -
Thanks for all your replys, we have considered all responses and at the minute things are still undecided. As she studys business law it is possible to do a final year in business which i believe should be transferrable to any england university. This is something we are looking at the minute, if all else fails she will stay here and i will visit at the weekend (Last option).
Thanks again for all the people that took their time to reply0 -
Why not !! Any one can come here to do his/her engineering study and we will provide a best service to them..
