Portfolio Construction!

As you all know I have been quite renegade in my approach to investing since April and have taken time out to calm down and get better informed with Tim Hale and also David Stevenson (Investing for Income).
I have now started to compile thoughts for a new and hopefully more balanced and diverse portfolio which I want to focus on income and growth. My idea is almost 2 portfolios in one - a side for income harvested through dividend/coupon yield and a side for growth of cash for later on where arguable income could be taken from. This is split 50/50. This is to be re-balanced when required.
Please be gentle with me and thanks for feedback:
On the growth side I am considering:
Vanguard Life Strategy 60% Equities 40% Bonds
This is 50% so arguably accounts for 30% Equities and 20% bonds.
On the income side (remaining 50%) is a mixture of equity income and bonds and property:
10% Equity Income through funds and shares I already hold
20% Bonds: Mix of A grade and High Yield
10% Infrastructure: eg. MacQuarie Global Infrastructure 100 ETF
10% Real Estate
Still reading on though. Giving it a rest for a few days as it has been a lot to take in.
Thanks for your support guys :T

Thought you would have finished your books by now
Can I ask why you are hoping for a tank on the markets (30-40% I think you said?) and are almost willing this to happen?
Just curious ... have you sold a bit low recently and hope to recoup some losses?
Sorry but I havent read all your posts.0 -

Quite the reverse I have sold high of the last week and now have very little invested. So if the market tanks I am in a good position to buy.0 -
If you are investing for the long term, which I take it you are as you are investing in the first place, you must realise that your investments will suffer peaks and troughs?
What will you do if the markets dont tank, hold onto your cash until they do? No one knows what will happen.0 -
