faulty good no receipt b&q

around october last year i brought a new chest of drawers from b&q.
Now 7 months on 3 of the 6 drawers had split and broken.
i have not overfilled them or misused it. the wood just crumbles when you move the drawers.

i cant seem to find the receipt but i can get the date i brought it from bank statement.

do i need the actual receipt or will bank statement be enough proof of purchase and is 7 month too long to return a faulty product.
i think a chest of drawers would have 3 years life minimum but the price i paid i would expect 7-10 years. so i believe it not fit for purpose.

As far as I'm aware what you need is proof of purchase and a bank statement should do, but I'm sure someone with more knowledge on the subject will be along to confirm or deny shortly :)

Bank statements can be enough. How much did the drawers cost incidentally?

If your bank statement shows a payment to B&Q (by direct debit, for example) for the exact cost of the chest of drawers there shouldn't be a problem; further, if the drawers are only retailed by B&Q then that too will help.
If the payment shown is at least the cost of the chest of drawers then again that should help.

Just remember it's over 6 months old so may be up to you to prove that they we're faulty/not fit for purpose via an independent report if B&Q want to be awkard

Of course. If any B&Q warranty/guarantee says the receipt is required as proof of purchase then you cannot invoke such warranty/guarantee without the receipt, so you're left with your SOGA rights wherein B&Q could (although unlikely) require the purchaser to prove the fault was inherent. ;)
