You could start by doing some reading, e.g. here: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/savings/0

i have read that but i was looking for some savings accounts and some are paying 1.7%
would i be best to put it in a savings account though?
also would a savings account allow us to make the regular deposits?0 -

If you are both tax payers, then both start filling up cash ISA's. Shop around for the highest rates.Total Mortgage OP £61,000Outstanding Mortgage £27,971Emergency Fund £62,100I AM NOW MORTGAGE NEUTRAL!!!! <<Sep-20>>0

Look for regular savers. They pay higher than 1.7%, you can ISA them when they have matured each year.0

£2,500 into a Flex Direct Current Account with Nationwide 5%
£300 a month each into a First Direct Regular Saver 6%
Take the money from the regular saver and put this into a ISA in the next tax year.0 -
