My vendor demanded completion for 23rd May.
Spoke to my solicitor on 22nd May after returning my contract etc to check what status was- he told me that Barclays had sent me the first of three letters requiring signature and return. The whole process would take up to 10 days.
In a panic I got in touch with everybody I knew at Barclays. My mortgage advisor cleared his schedule and organised for underwriter to fax documents to everybody concerned. It was the most intensely stressful 24 hours I've ever experienced.
At the final hour for funds to be released (2:30pm on 23rd), all forms had been faxed and returned. So when I received a phonecall at 3pm telling me that funds had been released, I was over the moon.
Friday morning, called solicitor and was told that I had now exchanged, and he was just waiting to hear when I could collect the keys.
11:30am, call from solicitor and estate agent telling me that the keys were now available.
I am now the owner of a beautiful property
Hooray!!!

Well done & all the best in your new home.0 -
Good luck simplymegreg!
They nearly took the property off me when I tried to negotiate over mis-represented electrical status (told it was up to scratch and survey said it wasn't). There was a cash buying investor who was willing to offer the same amount without survey if my offer fell through.
When I said I would still go ahead, the vendor gave me 28 days to complete or they would take the property off me. Hence the rush!
They did leave me a rose called 'warm welcome' and a really lovely card. So I think part of the vendors' family were being particularly aggressive with everything. Please respond to mine and others' posts with courtesy and kindness- and I will not deliberately disrespect you. I have that rose in a pot outside my house :-) (not your rose, but one the same lol). It was a nice gesture from your vendors, they were probably panicking as much as you till the deal was done. All the best in your new place.0

well done jibbyboo, hope you are enjoying your new home.
nice gesture from the vendors. I think with mine we are at the stage I might be getting left a dead herring under the carpet rather than a nice rose , but just hoping things can turn around like they did for you.0 -
