Cant get a basic bank account

Can someone help me, im finding it very difficult to get even a basic bank acc, i been lodging for several years with friends so never had a credit file so basically no credit i have finally settled down with my partner living in a house for 12 months now, for some unknown reason i have a mobile contract (took out 2 months ago) but still cant get an account i have tried several RBS, Natwest, yorkshire, but they have turned me down for the very basic they say they cant find me when they do a search, i have managed get a ''thinkbanking'' account with prepaid mastercard but this does not record on a credit file therfore i can not build a credit file

if you have dl or passport try NatWest (online application), on there real current accounts they are up and running within 1 working day if you have a passport or driver liecense, this may be the case for the basic accounts too.0

my 22 year old grandson has just opened a Santander basic account as he only had a post office one for his job seekers allowance and now he has a job and needed a bank account for his wages, he only took his ID and it was opened at once, hope this helps.0
