Ebay buyer in Poland but listing said UK only

I've been selling odds and ends just recently and always include the line Will be carefully packed and despatched by First Class post to UK addresses only.

A bidder with an address in Poland has just won an item.

He hasn't paid yet, probably because I haven't specified the postage cost to anywhere but UK.

Is it possible for me to cancel this 'purchase' before he pays?
If not, what is the best way of tackling this?

Did you change all your settings to UK only, or just state it in the listing ?

Posting overseas is no more trouble that posting to the UK, so you could get a price off the Royal Mail website and go ahead with the sale.

Alternatively, you could request a mutual cancellation of the sale, but if the buyer refuses, you will have to pay your selling fees and the buyer can leave a negative feedback and low stars.

It's quite possible the buyer has a UK registered address.

Have you thought of contacting the buyer and asking?

I had a similar thing happen to me.

I'd stated in the item description it was a 'collection only' as it was a largish item, an old synthesizer.

Guy from Hungary contacted me to see if I'd post it there !

Looked at P&P costs to do so, let him know what I'd charge, and it was then up to him if he wanted to bid.

He won the auction, I posted it, and he gave me positive feedback !

Suggest you make contact, with updated P&P price, and see if they're still interested .....

Yes, if you don't want non-UK buyers (or whatever), you have to change your settings so that they can't bid in the first place.
Even when you do, non-eligible bidders will quite often try their luck by messaging you and asking you to change the terms of the listing - just have to say sorry but no! (Unless they want to pay you mega to do it )
