Ticketmaster - limits?

Options
Please can someone help me? We booked tickets for 1D on Saturday, and it was a nightmare. The website was so slow. We had 2 computers going at once so we could both try for different areas. So I got 4 and hubby got 3.

Then I got an automated call from my credit card company saying my transaction had been blocked, so I panicked and ordered 4 duplicate tickets (but not in the area we wanted as they had all gone by this time).

Speaking to the credit card company later they said the transaction had actually been approved - even though the automated fraud phonecall said it had been blocked.

So this means I have 8 booked which is the maximum. But hubby also has some. On the website it says the limit is '8 per person per card'. Which in theory should be ok as I have 8 in my name and hubby has the others in his name on his card. BUT, I've read a few things about Ticketmaster cancelling tickets if people order over the maximum, and it also says on the website that they may cancel duplicate orders having the same name, billing address, or credit card.

I can't find a way to cancel the extra tickets, nor can I work out how to contact Ticketmaster. We did try to ring them on Saturday after I got the message that the credit card had been declined and the recorded message cut us off saying the service wasn't available.

I'm really worried now that I can't see how to cancel the extras, but if I don't then Ticketmaster may cancel the lot. Please can anyone help? Has anyone got any experience of this?

Also, I would like to just state I will NOT be trying to sell the extras at some ridiculous price. If we are allowed to keep them all I will be selling them to my daughter's friends for face value so please don't have a go at me for this. I genuinely panicked in wanting to get tickets for my daughter and a couple of her friends, and now I'm scared we may lose the lot. Sorry this is such a long post - but if anyone can help I would appreciate it!

We had the same nightmare yest too

Computers crashing, having tickets then timing out, processing for ages..

Eventually got the over the fone (I think we got them, no email received yet)

I think your problem sounds like maybe at one stage with all the problems you maybe had more than 8 tickets charged to your card and the cancelled the extra and left you with only 8? Maybe not, maybe that's not even possible, just a thought?
  • Yes, it was a nightmare wasn't it?

No, I never had more than 8 tickets per card. My first order was for 4 and it appeared to go through fine but then the credit card company rang with a recorded message saying it had been blocked due to fraud (suspicion of fraud) and I would have to resubmit the order.

So then hubby and I both tried again with separate cards - I managed to get 4 on my card and he got 3 on his.

So at the end I had 8 booked on my card (as the credit card company later said the first transaction hadn't been declined after all) and hubby has 3 on his.

People have posted on various sites, saying that duplicate tickets had been cancelled without notice. I don't mean for this concert, I mean for other concerts over the last few years. But I've also read that it's virtually impossible for customers to cancel tickets as they won't accept cancellations. Catch 22.

I guess we'll have to try the phone number again on Tuesday and see if they will let us cancel the duplicated tickets.

Have you had a look at your ticketmaster account online to see what is shows? the reason I ask I had similar happen a few years ago when four was the maximum for a gig and I did not realised and booked five tickets. The first I knew of it was when after about 48 hours the booking was not showing in "my tickemaster". I rang up ticketmaster who informed me this was why it was cancelled. It was for a pre-sale so I was lucky to get tickets on the official sale date.
  • The Tickets are still in my Ticketmaster account - but I guess they are closed over the Bank Holiday. My worry is that they will cancel all of them, or cancel the ones we really want.

From what I've read they don't accept cancellations from customers, but if we don't cancel we risk them cancelling them for us! I'll try to ring them again tomorrow and see if we can cancel the ones we don't need.
