Ask any local paperboys and postmen. They know a lot of what goes on.
Other than that it's a lot of posters and phone calls. W onc did hug posters for a cat that we had rehomed that ran off, but it was a tiny card in a small shop in a back street than found her for us.
Thankfully, vets, councils, and most rescues will scan immediately on finding a cat.
Cover as wide a distance as you can. If somebody has found him whilst driving through, then they might have taken him to a rescue in THEIR area, not yours.

Balletshoes, not sure if you have a FB account but my town has a page where people are always reporting lost/found cats, dogs etc. The response is phenomenal and it is one of the best things FB can offer. You could try on here. Cats protection league as well if that's not already been mentioned.
Hope you get him back soon. Please keep us up to date.0 -
Sorry to hear you cat is missing
When you go out to call him, make sure it's a quite time and stand and listen for a while, you might just hear the feintist little miaow. We found one of our by spending lots of time calling and just standing still listening, she was in a bush not very far from home, but too scared to come out.
Hope he comes home soon.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Hello Balletshoes,
My little cat jumped out of the living room window when she had been here a week. She ran across to road and hid in a brambly ditch, and ran away when I tried to get near. She wouldn't come back inside, even though she probably wanted to, so I can relate to the 'displaced' feeling I think cats get.
Distraught, I went back to cats protection (where I got her from) and they lent me a cat trap. All you do is put food at the end, and as soon as the cat puts their weight on the step in front of the food, the door swings down. Got the cat back within an hour of putting the trap out.
The CP might ask for a deposit for the trap if they don't know you, but you get it back and it is well worth it.
Good luck getting Sam backDebt £26k 18/10/140
