Hi, please could anyone help? This coming sat(1st June) myself my and my daughter are going to the greenday concert at the emirates stadium in London, my husband and 9 year old son are also coming to London but not the concert (billy joe don't float his boat lol)
Anyhow I am looking for some advice as I am a total London novice and am stressing a bit over the following bits
We can't decide wether to hav my hubby hang around the area of the stadium till concert finishes and us all travelling back to hotel together, our hotel is next door to the London eye in the Waterloo/westminister bridge area or for my hubby to do something elsewhere and me and daughter get either taxi or tube alone to hotel

Anyone know what there is to do around the emirates stadium area suitable for kids also anyone have any advice or recommendations for transport as my hubby isn't too keen on me and my daughter using tube alone
Many thanks in advance
X

odeon cinema on Holloway Road is the only thing that jumps out at me.

What's the problem with you getting the tube after the gig? It'll be crowded with fellow concert-goers, surely?

Using the tube after a concert at the Emirates will be safe.It will just be very busy and crowded. Arsenal tube station is only a couple of minutes walk from the stadium. It may be better for your husband and young son to meet you at the station near your hotel, rather than have them caught up in the crowds.

I always leave a couple of minutes before the gig finishes (last song) at any large venue like Wembley, O2 or Emirates to avoid the heaving crowds at the tube station. A few minutes later you will have the crowds in front of you at the platform and have to wait to get on a tube after several have departed and then stand in very crowded trains. Those few minutes earlier leaving mean you get on the first tube and usually get a seat. You could text your husband as you are walking to the tube station ( tube journey should take about 20 minutes). You get the tube to Piccadilly Circus and then change onto the bakerloo line to Waterloo (which is the nearest station to the London Eye). London tubes are still busy at night, expecially on a Saturday night. You will also find a few people do the same as you and will start to filter out of the Stadium as the last encore song is performed.

Hi! Thanks for the replies, Thankyou for the tube advice I think my hubby wasn't so keen as its so late at night and with not knowing tube routes and what changes I would need to get I think he was just a bit worried we would get lost ! However I really think that's the option I'm gonna go with as it sounds pretty straightforward. Re leaving early during the last song I stand zero chance of getting my daughter out till they're literally off stage for last time so am just going to have to unfortunately deal with the crowds.

The tube journey is very straightforward with large tube maps at the platform entrances to show stops and direction of tube and then even on the wall of the platform, plus a trains due updated rolling display above the platform. At Piccadilly Circus when you exit the tube train, just follow the large signs to the bakerloo (brown line) platforms. Enjoy the gig.

The signage on the u/ground is a model of clarity, in my view.

Google 'standard tube map PDF' and map out your changes in advance, if you want.

What would you reckon to- walk to Highbury/Islington, pick up Victoria Line to Green Park, and Jubilee to Waterloo? Less crowded at the change station, maybe?

For the tube, I would imagine both Arsenal and Holloway Road stations to be closed, or "Exit only" but it isn't really too far to walk to Highbury and Islington. Nothing in the immediate area as already remarked on. Depending where you will be going in / coming out of, might be a short walk to Blackstock Road and the number 4 bus to Waterloo. If you go to Highbury and Islington, it's Victoria Line and change at Kings Cross, Northern Line, Charing Cross branch to Waterloo. Or as Googler, to Green Park and Jubilee Line to Waterloo :-)

Thankyou everyone who has given advice. We have been to London and are now home and have got to say I've defo had my eyes opened to the London underground and how good it is. We decided to get day travel cards and we hopped on and of all weekend . We literally went everywhere, after the gig I got the tube with my daughter to meet my husband and son in Leicester square and then we traveled down to Waterloo together. I must say I won't ever feel nervous about the tube in future as I found it very safe and simple and staff where very helpful.
