  • Morning all :)

MSM is still upgrading  Wonder what they are up to?!
Guess my shopping planning will have to wait until later.

Got to take my car to the garage later, there's some dodgy noise coming from the brakes at the back and my hanbrake feels a bit loose  Hoping it'll be nothing too major and inexpensive to fix. It's a times like this I hate living so far away from my Dad!

    Morning all

Another dull day here at the moment. Seems fitting. 3 year anniversary of my Dad's death so I'm a bit more subdued than usual.

Didn't get on yesterday and have just caught up.

Hope the cake went well Mrs S. I agree with the others - have only ever used cooled boiled water for the cakes I've made. Do we get to see a pic of yours once you've finished? :)

Loved the greenhouse pic Hampydoodums - am a little jealous :p DH has a shed and a garage and I have one of those little plastic covered 4 tier 'greenhouses' Did make a little headway this weekend though and he cleared a workbench in the shed for me to do potting etc on :D

Garden not doing so well. Blackberry bush smothered in greenfly and I've noticed foam under the leaves of the strawberries :( Anyone got any advice? The only insecticide I have can only be used on ornamental plants and i'm not sure the usual washing up liquid/water mix will be enough...

Queen of Cheap or DM - wonder if you can help me. I am going to Amsterdam Friday til Sunday and have nowhere booked!!! I would like somewhere that is easily accessible - train from airport to a hotel rather than a 40 euro taxi ride. I am going by myself so want to make it easyish. Going for an event in south Amsterdam(which is on trainlines) but would like to stay central or south Amsterdam. Don't want to stay in dodgey areas but would like to see a bit of city centre at same time and if time maybe take in a museum/gallery. TIA luvelies.

Others may know city well....just that I rem Queenie and DM chatting about Amsterdam.

    Hi Patty,
get the train from the airport into the city.
When you come out of the railway station the whole city is in front of you.
Walk over the bridge, cross the road, about 5 shops down on the right there is the hotel shop, it has a list of all the hotels in the city with rooms, you get them really cheap as they prefer to have them full at half the cost.
We have had some fantastic deals from there.
It might be worth looking at the DoubleTree Hilton, we also got a great deal for it, and joined the hilton honours (free) and got an upgraded room and free breakfast. It is right next to the railway station.
Love your Mum, you'll never get another one when she's gone.

    Sorry to hear that

Just to be sure can you please confirm which size bar, what flavour and in what quantity you bought? (And that you bought in A on an AVT or AvW shop?)

Sorry but lots of glitches have bren incorrectly reported as fixed in the past so worth checking the details

Hi Logie Hugs to you. Annuversaries can be difficult :( :A

As to your strawberries. This is meadow spittle bug. Look inside the foamy stuff and you will find the bug responsible for it. Just remove it. Wear gloves if you don't like bugs :D pretty harmless and shouldn't affect your plants. Keep the weeds down as well to avoid these nasties. As for greenfly  It's a battle to keep on top of them. Im on my way out but I'll look later for the name of the spray I use. With hit and miss results on some things, though :(
