Cinema 3D Glasses

Options
Hi,
Can you re-use Cinema 3D Glasses? We have some, can't remember where we got them, they are real D 3D and the viewing says it is that, so I don't see why they wouldn't work.
They only cost 80p each pair, but why buy more if you don't need to.

Steve

Yes, you can - our local Odeon charges an extra £1 for 3D glasses (on top of the addition for a 3D film) but lets you take them away and then bring them back to use next time.

(the Vue, on the other hand, just includes the price of glasses in the ticket price, but expects you to hand them back at the end of the showing)

You certainly can. At the Picturehouse chain they're about 70p but you get to keep them. I managed not to lose mine between seeing Star Trek and Gatsby 3 days apart

Seems strange that Vue expect you to hand them in, do they have someone collecting them or a box to drop them into?

They have a box for you to drop them into on the way out. As I said in my original post, unlike the Odeon they don't actually charge you for them on the way in, just hand them to you, so I guess they are only lending them to you for the showing - although I suspect you could just walk out with them without anyone noticing if you wanted to.

Cineworld cinemaas you can re use them if you have bought a pair from them, not sure if you can use a pair from 1 cinema and use in a cinema from another chain but I guess 3D is 3D whatever the chain is.

Passive 3D is what is used in the cinemas and its the same technology in all of them. In fact we use the glasses we got with our passive 3D TV when we go to the cinema. So glasses from one cinema will work fine in another one.

It may vary from branch to branch....

At our local one, I think when they first starting showing 3D films you simply kept them (that's how we got ours :-) !) but when we went recently they had a box for you to put them into at the end of the showing - I guess once you've got one or two pairs you don't really want any more.
