You can "live" in a Travelodge for about £600/month if you book a month in advance! :D
Probably only in 1-2, on the edge of a remote motorway, during 2-3 months of the year .... as a rule, if you phone up the 3-4 Travelodges closest to you and ask their rate they'll tell you a lot higher figure.... else we'd all be doing it as that's cheaper than a lot of house-shares.

The closest you might get is to find a holiday let that doesn't want the hassle of weekly changeovers.... and is happy to have somebody a bit longer. Another "out of the box" way of looking is to look for houses in your area that are for sale and have a separate annexe - approach them, they might have it sitting empty "in case they sell soon" and don't want any eviction worries.

I just checked online and it says maximum period is 28 days. Nice though unless there is another way

That's just a limit of their booking engine

You can back-to-back bookings and the local staff will keep you in the same rooom

You're right about it only be at a few locations, but wrong about the seasons.

You can get low prices at the "motorway" locations all year round, if you book far enough ahead

Don't forget that even if you find a property to buy quite quickly you could easily be 3 or 4 months into a 6 month tenancy by the time you complete. Even if you are not in a chain there maybe a chain associated with your purchase which slows things down.

We sold our house at the end of January this year, moved into rented, and haven't yet found a suitable property. Part of the problem is that there are less properties coming onto the market than there were this time last year.

So take into account how specific your requirements are regarding your purchase and what is going on in your local area.

Taking on a new tenant incurs cost for the LL so I can understand why the vast majority want a minimum of 6 months tenancy.
It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

I've asked at the Twickenham one and they said several months would be fine. £19/night. Hoping it will not be necessary in my particular case!
