RBS Credit Card PPI-Good Will Gesture

Hi,
I have lodged a PPI claim on my RBS credit card. Today I received a letter offering a payment as a "good will gesture" and that they are not admitting responsibility. On the back page however, they break down this payment as ppi paid betweent April 2001 and April 2002 plus interst minus tax. I still have the card to this day and I can't understand how they can offer a payment from 11 years ago and nothing for the following period. Interestingly they also state that I am still paying ppi on this account and that it will be cancelled if I accept the offer.
Has anyone else had any experience of this or any advice?
Thanks,
BJ

They have offered a "goodwill" payment for only the period specified. If they don't actually uphold your complaint (which they haven't) they don't actually have to offer you anything it all.
If you remain dissatisfied, you can refer your original complaint to the Ombudsman, but realise that the Bank can then withdraw their offer and you may get nothing at all if FOS don't find in your favour.

A FOS referral can take as long as eighteen months.

Have you been paying PPI during that period? Hopefully not as borrowing constantly on a credit card for 11 years is really bad.

I'm afraid I have. Managing credit is something I've rather neglected.

You need to ask them why they are only paying out for that period then.

Is it possible you changed cards during that period? Same providers sometimes change their cards and whilst you feel it is continuation, it is actually a new account.

I will. They changed it a couple of years ago from from visa to MasterCard but if I was paying PPI in 2001 and an still paying now, I can only assume I've been paying it for the whole period. Throughout that time the average balance has been about £8000 so we could be talking about a lot of money.
