Trip cancelled.

Well, I was due to fly with my gf to Belgium & Amsterdam, but her nan has fallen sick and has been hospitalized, so we have had to cancel the whole trip.
Insurance is ready to pay up, however they need confirmation of cancelled flights. How do I go about getting these from Ryanair and Easyjet, is there a way of contacting them by email rather than by their expensive 0871 number?
Knowing Ryanair, it would be a pain dealing with them. Can I just write to them and request confirmation of cancellations by post?

Just print out a copy your e-ticket and send that to the Insurers.0

I did tell them that, they said that would not suffice as I could still have used the tickets.0

Somebody previously mentioned a good way to contact Ryanair is to use Call checker on this site to see who provides the cheapest calls to Ireland (one of them is 0.5p a minute, others 1p a minute) and then register with that company and then call Ryanair in Ireland (using the rest of the world number on their site). No Matter what you do there will be critics.0

This really only applies if a family member has died,in which case ryanair would refund you, however the contact procedure to cancel is on the page here0

Yes, I did read that so I wouldn't be eligible for a refund, but did explain to insurance company, and they said they would process it. Now I jus need to get evidence of cancellation from them.0
