O/S Daily Sunday 26th may

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

    Morning all:j:j

Sunny and warm here this morning with more Sun due Today,

Not Long up, Another Good nights sleep, Slept all night In bed. I think this Is day 5 or 6 now that Iv stopped In bed all night.

It was a lovely day here yesterday, The sun was out all day,:j:j But You could feel a little chill when it did go behind a cloud.

Had a lovely meal out last night with My Mum and Dad.
Its My dad's birthday today. But I will not be seeing him as he and my mum are at the caravan. He is off fishing with a mate for a few hours.

Today we have the bloke from Sky coming about our shy box. Its been playing up of late. Dumping and in some cases not even recording program's. So we are hoping the guy can sort it out, This will be the second time we have had to have a guy out since Christmas about the sky box, The last time the box was dumping channels, The guy came out that time and replaced the box for us. As we had only a new HD box off sky a fee a couple of months before, Now this ones seems up the shoot. So In less than 12 months if they replace this box today we would have had 3 HD box's of sky, Before that we had a normal Sky plus box. That was 5 years old! We only upgraded to HD as they gave us a very good deal, Were We ended up with more for the same as we were paying at the time, So In effect free, we now wish we had never bothered. With the trouble we have had over box's. Still you could say that the old sky plus box might not have lasted much longer anyway, with how old it was.
Still I hope it should all be sorted easy and quickly today.

Dinner today will be Roasted Lamb shoulder, :j:j: I picked two up teh other day when I took myself for a walk.
Paid £5 for the two. The meat you get on them is quite fatty, But tasty, Its one of the few Cuts of lamb that its affordable! If you were cooking for Four adults then you would need to cook two. But as there will only be my wife and I, We will just cook the one. We would use the lest overs for the base for tomorrow, But if its nice tomorrow the Twins have asked if we can cook some food on the BBQ.

The twins today have church this morning, Then there dancing this afternoon for there show. There show Is only around a month to six weeks a away now.
After dancing they will go over to My wife's Mums and Dad's and then off to see there grate grand parents for a hour or so.
They are both very busy little bees all the time! I;m the only one that dose to get to go out!! lol

    Halight the Hermite ! :rotfl::rotfl:

Well I hope that you are all well, I have not even looked at yesterdays daily since early yesterday morning so I don't have a clue at whats been going on. I shall go and make another coffee and have a read now.

Enjoy your Sunday everyone! I hope the suns out for you all:T:T

    Cheep cheep:j:j

Morning Halight & all who follow.
Sunny here this morning but there is a nip in the air, it's supposed to warm up later, the fish have been fed & DW is on, I'll put the WM on later, there is no rush to get all the work clothes washed & dried as hubby & I are both on holiday for a week.
I went to bed at 10ish last night, got up again after 30 minutes, I was in too much pain to sleep, I took pain killers & went back to bed when they started to work. When will I learn that I'm 61 & not 21 & whilst I can still spend all day in the kitchen and then play on the bouncy castle & dance with the grandchildren I will pay for it later!
Plans for today include, yarn stroking, gardening & housework, I shall watch a couple of the Paul Hollywood videos too as I want to start making bread again soon.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

  • Good morning everyone :)

The sun is shining and it's a bank holiday weekend ... amazing!

Off to a carboot sale or two for a mooch and hopefully a couple of bargains. Will report back later if I find anything exciting.

Gardening and cleaning later while DH gets back to his exam marking. The pile still seems the same size but he swears it's going down.

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

    Morning everyone

Lovely day here, DH is working [although I'm not sure he'll last the day - kidney stone pains again]

Sistercas - thanks for asking :], DH takes Tramadol to manage the pain but he'll have to see the Doc tomorrow [ours are open 365 days a year] to see if there is something else that can be doene as this is silly now - pain almost everyday.

My plans for today are to see if Mum, kids and dog would like to go out for a walk and a picnic somewhere, can't waste a moment of this lovely weather so housework will have to go hang :]

    Have a lovely day everyone
Hugs, sticks and spoons in a pile, grab one and a coffee [choc biscuits available too]

    Helen

PS Halight - we have Sky - not plus or HD and our box is about 10 years old!! Hope it gets sorted properly
Hester - have a lazy day, sounds like yesterday was fun
TTFTM - good luck at the car boot :]
Projects made for craft fair - 40 :)

Good Morning everyone bright and sunny here in the Garden of England. My garden is growing and excellant crop of weeds and wildflowers, but then it will keep the insects and butterflies happy .I like to spread a little sunshine around if I can :):):)
Well Sunday morning so that means baking some biscuits for eldest DD to have with her coffee mid-morning,she normally gets here just after The Archers have finished and I have boxed up the biscuits Her timing is wonderful :)
I also want to make a lemon drizzle cake and a chocolate sponge cake as the boys are home for half term so they will be emptying my youngest Dds cupboards out will alarming speed.I am sure they have hollow legs,or is it just little boys that can eat copius amounts of home cooked sponge cake, thinking about it I think I will make an Victoria sponge as well this morning .Well the big oven is on so it won't cost anymore and fills up the oven :):)
I also will put a wash on this morning as it looks like a lovely drying day so I don't want to waste a bit of the glorious sunshine. No doubt about it the sun does make you more energised
Off to DDs for dinner late this afternoon,we have beef with all the trimmings tonight,I will knock up an apple pie as well I think as I know I have some apples in the freezer and they won't take long to defrost.
So its pinny on and out with the baking bits for me.I love Sunday mornings as I can have the wireless on and bake away and fill my family up with goodies :):)
Halight Lamb shoulder is my favourite as it makes the best shepards pie in the world I think.enjoy your bargain last time I saw some shoulder the supermarket wanted £12.00 for one !!!
I hope everyone has a smashing day and if you have some sun enjoy it to the full
    Cheers chums JackieO xxx

    Morning all,

Bright sunshine here :T, got our bedding in the wm and will get it on the line, will do dd's tomorrow.

Yesterday we managed to get the hedge cut back, the lawn done and the edges strimmed, so its all looking good out there.

Need to drop dd at work this morning, then home for a quick tidy through, will then make up some sandwiches and a flask of coffee and get out walking, got to make the most of this lovely weather.

Not sure about dinner tonight will go and check my list, maybe pizza and salad.

Topsy, how are you love ?

    Have good days all xx

    Hi everyone
Haven't posted for a while but read most days. Just having five minutes before I go next door and make my dad's cuppa....my mum and youngest are at a Christening today so I'm in charge od granddad. Seem to have got lots done this morning; it must be the sunshine. Had a lovely lazy afternoon yesterday, sitting outside reading and hopefully will do the same later. Might go to the garden centre tomorrow and get some plants for my tubs in the back garden as it needs brightening up.

Went to the paediatrician with youngest DD on Thursday and she's been diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome. It was a relief, in a way, to have the diagnosis as she's been ill since November and has hardly been at school since February. Meeting with her head of year on Friday, and she agreed that DD could be educated at home for last 6 weeks of term and hopefully go back to school on a reduced timetable in September. School will give her work to do and are trying to arrange a tutor. Would love to think she'll be a lot better in September, but really don't know.... The consultant thinks the longer she has a break from school the better. I'm sure there's a lady on her with CFS/ME, but sorry can't remember who...would be grateful for any advice.

Eldest DD, 16 nearly 17, has gone to her first music festival for 2 days, so I'm feeling a bit old and stressed!

Well, going to quickly wash kitchen floor before cup of tea time

You all put me to shame, I'm still in bed!

We had a great time yesterday at the engagement party, the weather was so nice we sat outside and caught up with friends and relatives. I had a big cuddle with my third cousin (I think, cousins granddaughter) which had me broody. She's 18 months old but was chatting away and doing animal impressions.

We came home and watched the Bowie documentary which had got me super excited about going to the V&A exhibition next week. I think we have the trip planned out now. I'm going to print off vouchers and the booking forms today. I like a plan because I can usually save money by planning where to eat and how to travel.

Better get up now, we are going to clear the roof space in the garage today. None of it is our stuff, it was left by the previous owners.

    Morning all,

Ooh I've got a hangover this morning, that will be the wine and vodka and orange:eek:
We had a great time though, I think it does you good to let your hair down every now and again:D
Plans for a lazy day today. The baskets are empty so no washing. Dh spend yesterday squashed up in the little loo boxing the pipes in so I shall let him have a day off today.
May go and have a potter around the garden centre. Tea will be chicken curry and rice with naan bread.
Dh wants to cut the grass and spend some time in his garden and I want to sort out all my bits of wool and get on with my next project, a hot water bottle crochet cover for dd for Christmas and then one for DGS. They love to snuggle up and watch a film on Sunday afternoon so am also making them a big throw so they will be lovely and warm.
Speaking of DD she has chicken pox:eek: never had them as a little un although all three boys did. I suspect she has got them from DGS nursery, no doubt he will get them as well. She feels fine just very itchy.
Ds3 has just emerged from his pit, well I think it's him he has a hoody on and a quilt round his shoulders. Grabbed a large pint of milk and grunted and disappeared again, oh the joys of parenthood.

    Have a good Sunday x

  • morning all.. beautiful day again.

dp1....lv been dx with cfs/me.lv had it for a long time and lm still not quite convinced it ME as symtoms affect my legs mostly. But as they have ruled out MS l have to be treated for ME.Im mostly housebound & sometimes bedbound, like today if lv over done it.The advice l would give is rest, rest and more rest.If yr body is telling you need sleep, don't fight it.Get as much support and aid as you can.lv got walking sticks and in-door wheelchair, aids for the house,ie key turner, special easy plugs, bath stool, fitted wet room etc from the NHS,plus a power chair and ramp from a disability ramp from a charity.l have to add it took me yrs to fight to get help & its even harder now to get help,so try every avenue to get support.Disiblity charities saved me from despair. My legs are getting worse,ie nerve pain and weakness but my fatigue is a lot better since l changed my diet to less meat and more veg & fruit. Cut out as much junk food as possible.l take vits daily.l run a local tel help- line for CFS/ME society, so if you need any more detailed advice please do message me.

l over- did it yesterday so now stuck in bed.Hubby taken over and is cooking dinner & house jobs to day.l can hear him vac as l type. He's my rock, l love him so much.

Hes off to see Rush in concert tonight & White Snake on Tues, so not sure what l will put on TV this evening. This afternoon l will use my over bed table and make my first Ikebana flower arrangement lv been learning about. All lv got are a few branches of lovely May flowers, few tulips and bluebells from garden.Have got lots of greenery to fill in if needed. Will have to see if son can download a few photos on here to show you all what lv learnt.

hope everyone has a lovely day and that the sun stays for us all a bit longer, the sun makes life feel so much better. x
