Hi, just thought I'd chip in. No one has mentioned that by compressing your clothes and fitting in more, you my go over your weight limit.jackieblack wrote: »PasturesNew wrote: »Do it - but don't use a vacuum, do it just by sitting on/flattening the bag as that's all you'll be able to do on the return journey. They really scrunch up small, I've used them when moving around and they're brilliant.
You can also use those zip-up sandwich bags in the same way - get the ones intended for liquids so they're airtight.
Thanks both, sounds like a great alternative!!0 -
Are you taking an iron for when you unpack?Doshwaster wrote: »Of course the other alternative is just to take less clothes. Is the bag below the max size for the particular airline you're flying with?
Not all airlines have the same max dimensions for cabin baggage.0 -
You could try the "bundling" method packing. I used this for a week's holiday and it worked fine.
There's a video on Youtube .. just search for "Packing - Bundling". Also wear your heaviest items of clothing and maybe a fisherman's-type gillet with plenty of pockets so that you don't have to scrabble around for passports/tickets etc. You can also use it for putting small items in the pockets. Go Outdoors/Millets/Oswald Bailey sell these type of jackets.
Have a great time!Normal people worry me.0 -
I was wondering about that myself WLITC, but couldn't live with the creased clothing & travel irons are rubbish too. My suitcase weighs 5kg, but I can actually pack for 2 weeks which is 7 dresses for evening & double up on the second week, & 14 lots of day clothes (shorts 7 vests), underwear, bathers, & toiletries, & I'm still only 12 kg. Without the 5kg case I'd do it in 7kg. Couldn't you have a go at that with a lighweight case?0

Most, if not all, places I have stayed, at home and abroad, have had irons and ironing boards available for guests to use.0

I bought a multi pack of vacuum bags from Argos. They were about £12 for 8 different size bags, some were travel bags which you roll and others were the ones which you use a vacuum for.
We tested it out at home and so far (nearly a week on) the roll bags work fantastically and keep all the air out.
Definitely recommend them as you can fit a lot more in your hand luggage.0
