Lloyds Question

When this happened to my wife it was because suspicious transactions had triggered their fraud department to lock the account. You may receive a letter in the post warning you they've stopped all direct debits too so be aware and take precautions so that nothing will bounce.
We visited the branch but the 'higher up' department still ended up closing her account despite us proving to their branch managers complete satisfaction that nothing illegal had occurred.• The rich buy assets.
• The poor only have expenses.
• The middle class buy liabilities they think are assets.0 -
I have not done anything dodgy.
A few months ago when i lost my job, I sold quite a few things on ebay so had a few transactions coming in totalling just under £2000. I have the perfect feedback on ebay and all the tracking numbers still of the things they bought from when i sent them.
I have not had any other transactions coming/nor have i paid in a cheque. I jave not committed fraud nor money laundering, and even if i did it would be for a ridiculously small amount (not that i have and im certain i haven't, and surely the police would be going after the big time players?) But thats another issue as i have nothing to worry about as i have done nothing wrong.
Is the worst case scenario that they will close my account? Its not the end of the world and can open another account, just needed access to my JSA this weekend.
Thanks for everyones input that has helped, i will be thanking your posts0 -

The police have to go after the small fish too. I work for a criminal defence solicitors office and most of our workload comes from petty crime; common assaults, shoplifting, criminal damage (kicked doors, smashed windows), people who are out past their curfew, etc.
Like you say though, you've nothing to worry about if you've done nothing wrong. I'd open another account now though or ask if you can have a giro just in case the problem isn't sorted out before your next payment. What will your verse be?

Why weird? You wrote" "It was working perfectly fine on the Thursday."
It's not working today, which is only two days later.
Even if Lloyds had sent you a letter yesterday by First Class post, it's hit or miss whether you would have received it today.
I guess we've got use to expecting communication to be instantaneous. Some letters I've sent recently by Second Class have arrived the following day, but those were probably exceptions.0 -
fair point
but i dont understand why the block has been put on now, if it was to do with them ebay transactions (the only transactions i have had coming in) that was months ago0 -

The authorities choose to turn a blind eye to small time money laundering. In fact they quite like it really.0 -

Is there a limit for when small time becomes BIG TIME then? :rotfl:0
