PPI HELP, halifax

Hi, im totally new to this so would appreciate any advice...My husband went into his bank and asked at the desk if he was ever sold PPI on any of his credit cards etc, and he received a letter to say he had taken out PPI on TWO credit cards in 2005. They started there investigation and telephoned him on the spot asking further questions, he told them he couldn't remember anything from the time he took out the policy as it was so long ago, but believed he was ''not asked if the policy was correct for him'..they sent out a 3 paged letter discussing there assessment & rejecting his claim... is it worth writing back? or should I just go to the ombudsman? it seams like such a long drawn process and not sure if we have any evidence to take back to the Halifax. any suggestions, advice or examples of letter templates would be great. Thanks

The complaint reason he gave was very weak. They have found no evidence to support that reason. Do you have any evidence to support the allegation? If so, provide it. If not, then there is no reason for them to uphold the complaint. You can refer it to the FOS but you really need to consider the grounds for the complaint first.

  • mmmm.... Could we go back to them with a more substantial reason, or would it be too late? And is it possible to find out how much PPI has been paid on the cards?

Why wasnt this noticed on each credit card statement by yourselves?

Normally letter such as yours are "final" and you have to have a real substantial reason.

As mentioned, your complaint is one of the weakest.
