Last year I queried with Natwest why it wasn't marked as defaulted when I checked credit report data. They sent a letter in September 2012 confirming that it should have been defaulted and backdated the default date.

This is when I checked that the default had been applied

And this is what shows now

After I had a PPI claim on the account took off the balance on 21st May 2013 this dramatically reduced to amount owed and meant I was in a position to settle the account with the dca. I was not aware at the time that this had been put on my report.

That entire account should have dropped off your credit report in April 2013.

Complain to Equifax as well because you have evidence that there was a default.

Keep pushing this, people need to fight these cowboys.

Quick update. Entry now not showing on Experian or Equifax just got to hear back from Noddle/call credit. Just got to focus now on 2017 when all the bad stuff will have gone off my credit report. On the plus side i've been accepted for a 30 day rolling sim with 3 so hoping that they report to the 3 CRA's to build up some positive history.
Been there, done that and Ebay'd the t shirt.

    Good stuff :)

I used to have a rolling contract with them and it definitely shows up on Equifax and Noddle. I can't remember whether it was on my Experian report or not.

Defaults should only be registered once and drop off your report after six years. If sold on to another firm they can be re-registered but with the original default date and the original entry flagged to exempt it from credit scoring. The ICO issues a guidance note on the filing of defaults, which lenders should follow.

Right but so is the default. If they add late payment markers, they should still have left the default on the credit report. By removing the default, they are removing factual information and effectively worsening the OP's position.
