No RAC fuelcard because I used a comparsion website

Options
I know if you use comparison websites that usually stops you getting cash back but does a quote, generated though a comparison website stop you getting an offer ?

Basically I found a quote for car insurance from RAC through go compare, made a note of the quote reference, cleared the cookies and then went through quidco to get a) the cashback and b) the £50 fuel offer that was on at the time.

I hadn't heard anything so I rang them yesterday and was basically told I didn't qualify as I had gone through a comparsion website.

I was also told that had I gone through the RAC system I would have been charged a different price because 'each site is offered a different price depending on how much business they generate'.

Anyone know if this is correct??

The T&Cs of the offer state that no fuel card will be sent if you use a cash back site...or comparison site.

So regardless even if they said it was due to comparison site, as you went through Quidco they would still be within their rights to bit send you a fuel card.

    Sorry :-(

    EDIT: Extract from T&Cs (https://www.racfueloffer.com)

To qualify for the RAC prepaid Visa debit card you must purchase RAC Breakdown cover and/or RAC Car Insurance direct from RAC. RAC Breakdown cover can be purchased either through https://www.rac.co.uk, through a RAC sales agent or RAC Patrol, or by calling RAC direct on 08000 722822. RAC Car Insurance can be purchased through https://www.rac.co.uk or by calling RAC direct on 08448 913558. This offer is not available to new customers who purchase RAC Breakdown or RAC Car Insurance cover via price comparison or cash back websites.

Ah thanks for that..theres's always a get out clause eh?

One thing that did surprise me though was the fact that if I went through a price comparison website I got a different quote than if I went direct or even if I went via a cash-back site.

Given that Martin tells us to use the comparison websites, clear our browser and then go through cashback websites doesn't my experience prove that this may not be the best moneysaving thing to do ?

It's a bit naughty really, they're quoting based on your circumstances and how you got that quote really shouldn't have any influence on that.

How is it TCF to say

    Site 1 = £300
    Site 2 = £320
    Site 3 = £290

If all the information is the same.... Hardly seems like they're quoting on your circumstances at all

I applied using topcashback and I have received the £50 fuel card. You have to redeem £12.50 every 3 months though...
Over the year it works out to be £5 for adding nearly everything to the cover.

RAC aren't worth it anyway, they are useless if you actually have a problem.

There is always a get out clause even if you do use them!!

When did your policy start and when did you get your fuelcard?
