Can someone recommend a decent garage in the Nottm area please?
My 2000 Corsa is poorly
He has an engine warning light that comes on when I start him, but then goes off when he actually starts.
When this first happened he actually didn't start at all - I took him to Pitstop in Bingham who fixed the not starting problem, but the light is still there. They messed me about for 2 weeks and didn't actually even look at my car til I got my dad involved, so I'm not going back there.
But now the engine warning light is getting worse. It comes on when driving at about 70, or going up hills, and things like that.
So if anyone has any ideas on where I can take him that won't fob me off just because I'm female that would be great. I'm based towards the east, so West Bridgford/Radcliffe on Trent/Bingham area is best but if they're going to be good I'd be willing to take him a bit further away.

There is a garage on groupon doing a deal which is in the Carlton area?

I Know someone had an MOT there and seemed ok ?0 -
I always use Ace Auto Services in Sneinton, Nottingham, never had a problem with them
http://www.aceautoservices.co.uk/
post code - NG2 4BT
I've used them for approximately 10 years and my dad has used them for the last 20+ years with out any problems.
They always ring me if they find any other problems with the car that need attention before carrying out any work and will preferably want to show you to problem before carrying it out which judging by stories on here a lot of garages don't.Debt

Maybe Pitstop did not have the diagnostic gear to turn off the warning lights despite fixing the underlying problem.
(Diagnostic gear can cost anything up to £10k for average to decent kit).
The Good Garage Scheme website might help as it shows which ones have engine diagnostic facilities, but I would call first to ensure they have the right gear for your vehicle make and year.

PS. There are other similar associations where bad feedback can be recorded, the RMIF is one, and there is another similar to the GGS, but I can't remember the name at the mo.0 -
It's not just the fact that the light isn't gone, it's more the way they treated me.Maybe Pitstop did not have the diagnostic gear to turn off the warning lights despite fixing the underlying problem.

When I took my car in they said they'd look at it straight away. That was on a Friday. On the Wednesday, I phoned to be told "oooh, we're looking at a Clio now, we'll do it first thing tomorrow". I left it a couple of days, then phoned again to be told they still hadn't looked at it.
The next Friday - ie they'd had it two weeks - I asked my dad to talk to them as I wasn't getting anywhere, and they managed to "fix" it wihin the day. Even then, they promised to phone me when it was ready and didn't.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

Sorry you had that experience Juno, however, if you read again - they may have fixed the problem, but not been able to put the light out.
I deal with all sorts of garages on a daily basis - and quite frankly, I'd trust all of them 100%, those that "see a mug and rip them off" are getting fewer and fewer as internet feedback can make or break them.
GGS is a good marker of what is local to you.0 -

I wouldn't take any notice of the Good Garage Scheme. No negative feedback ever appears on the site and to be on the site, the garage just needs to buy additives from the website.
I found that out when I used a local garage and had a huge problem with their "work". As it turned out I was about the only person locally who didn't know the terrible reputation of the garage. According to the good garage scheme, its the best garage around!!!0
