upgrading laptop hard drive!

i have got a dell inspiron 630m laptop with 40gb hard drive which is not enough for my needs now. i am considering buying a bigger hard drive off ebay but i dont understand the different specifications (ATA..etc),,what should i be looking for and is there a maximum size for hard drive capacity for this particular laptop..thanks

    If you look on eBuyer, there's a specific section for laptop drives ('2.5" Notebook Drives' I think). Also, if you spend more than £30 (excl delivery) you get £10 off when you pay through Google Checkouts.

    My Dell laptop had a weird connector on the end of the original drive, so don't worry if it doesn't look the same -- the connector is removable (and therefore transferrable to the new drive)! They might have even stopped making them with the connector attachment now.

    I'm reasonably certain that your original drive will be a 2.5" 5400rpm ATA 100 44 pin IDC. You can't use any drive that is SATA. Can't be certain on the maximum size it will support but i'd expect 80GB would work.

    Alternatively, consider a USB powered external drive
