Nice Alcohol Free Drinks?

In one of my browsing sessions in a CS I found this book
The Non-Alcoholic Coctail Book by David Bevan
Published in 1986 by Ebury Press
ISBN 0 85223 432 5
It's 60 pages of non alcoholic recipies by someone who was told by his doctor not to drink. I don't know if your library might be able to get hold of a copy for you, might be worth a try.
Just checked Amazon and they have 13 used copies for around £3.0 -
I love my G&T with ice and slice but as I also drive in the summer at BBQs I tend to have OJ and soda water with lots of ice Non alchoholic and very refreshing
:) I have my G&T when I get home and can put my feet up. 0 -
We are big red wine drinkers and really don't think there is any decent alternative
if I am ever pregnant I think I will find it really hard! 0 -

I love red wine, but have to admit that there are no satisfactory non alcoholic wines IMO. I reckon that the first person to make a good alcohol free wine will make a fortune. The problem with the alcohol free versions is that they are far too sweet, have no complexity and the finish (the amount of time that it stays on your palate/taste buds) is extremely short.
Some beers are OK (Bavaria alcohol free is about the best), but many of them have a malty, sticky aftertaste, instead of being clean and refreshing.
A long refreshing alcohol free drink which I make in the Summer is:
Crushed ice in a big jug, then two parts sparkling water, one part tonic water, one part dry ginger ale, the juice of half a lemon and a glug of orange or grapefruit juice. It has to be really cold.0 -
I recommend Soda stream Mojito mix, you can get it in Asda, if you don't have a soda stream just mix with bought soda water, it is lime and mint tasting but is a lovely adult drink.
The other one I recommend is lemon, lime and bitters, not strictly non-alcohol because of the tiny amount int he bitters. It is a few drops of bitters, with a dash of lime juice (fresh or cordial) and top up with lemonade.
You can also try a tropical sunrise which is a bit glass of fresh orange, and then drop in some grenadine, the grenadine makes it look as if the sun is rising through your glass.
Also delicious if you have a liquidiser is coconut ice cream whisked up with pineapple juice.0 -
Homemade scholer!
1/2 bottle of sugar free lemonade
1 carton either grape juice or cranberry or pomegranate juice
1 x box of frozen berries
Super cheap, super simple and lovely :-)0 -
I quite like tonic water with lemon as previously said. No ice either for me.0

not so much for wine lovers, but for anyone who enjoys the taste of beer, but wants to avoid alcohol, I'd recommend WP Hopper - you can get it in Sainsbury's

I like the bavaria alcohol free beer as well. Its £1.50 in Lidl but my local lidl doesnt always have it, Tesco had reduced it to £1.50 but its back up to £3 but they also do a lager shandy, its 0.9 per cent alcohol, its ok, I prefer the alcohol free beer, but the shandy is drinkable. I prefer the bavaria beer to becks blue. Im not teetotal but I dont have a lot of spare cash and Id rather have a can of shandy than spend £3 or £4 on a bottle of wine.
Aldi also do a similar version called brasserie, again its lager shandy and 0.9 per cent alcohol its £1.49 for 6 cans.
Tastes more like lemonade than lager tbh. You can also get alcohol free kopparberg and it tastes ok, but it didnt really agree with me, felt a bit off colour when I woke up (feel the same if I have too much bavaria beer, even though its alcohol free).
Morrisons also do a low alcohol cider, think its 99p.0
