Nice Alcohol Free Drinks?
WantToBeSE

I am going to stop drinking alcohol as from Monday. I can't afford it, and hate the feeling i get the morning after (i never get very drunk, but i still feel it make me sluggish and bleugh).
I like to wind down on a Friday evening with a bottle of wine, so was wondering if you could give me some recommendations for alcohol free drinks. Like schloer and similar ones-are they any good?
Obviously, i will get some Lemonade and stuff, but just looking for ideas.

When I was pregnant I liked alcohol free wine for that Friday feeling, and it is cheap.
Elderflower presse is good for a summery feeling of celebration.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
I like the white grape shloer. Alcohol free lager is quite nice especially becks blue. Ginger ale/ginger beer. Lime and soda is nice too. They were the drinks I replaced alcohol with when pregnant0

I'm a wino.
I love slimline tonic water in a glass with a large piece of fresh lemon (no ice). To me, it has the same appeal as white wine. Drink it in a wine glass on a Friday.
I also love orange and cranberry juice mixed together (50% each) with ice.
edot: refrigerate the tonic, or it's pants."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
I love grapefruit juice and lemonade. Very refreshing.0

If you like wine you probably won't find the sweeter drinks an adequate substitute. Diluting with fizzy water will make it seem less sweet without altering the flavour too much.
Half cranberry, half fizzy water and a dash of grapefruit is refreshing and quite sippable. If you don't like fizz then tap water (filtered if yours, like mine, tastes and smells of chlorine) is just as good and no cost!
Grape juice is great but much sweeter than wine; again try diluting a little and maybe adding a dash of cranberry or grapefruit just to take the edge off.0 -
Thanks for the ideas.
I normally drink rose wine, so i like a bit of sweetness & sparkle
I like the idea of slimline tonic added to several juices, especially cranberry and grapefruit. 0 -

Bavaria alcohol free lager is £1.50 for 6 cans in Tesco and Lidl and is fairly nice.
Haven't found a nice alcohol free wine yet, they're all too sweet for me. Elderflower presse is nice, and fizzy flavoured waters are a decent alternative.
If only more pubs did a decent range of alcohol free stuff.0 -
£1.50 for 6 cans sounds like a nice price, and worth trying too, thanks Tiny

If you like Pimms, try the Slimming World alternative which is a bottle of sugar-free lemonade (value version is fine) with a few drops of balsamic vinegar added. Then add the usual Pimms trimmings, ice and a slice etc.
It's really surprisingly good.0
