As regards urban/rural, some people like me just don't want to have to rely on their car to get everywhere, even if they can drive. I don't even like housing estates in the suburbs because it is all just houses, there are no shops or any facilities within walking distance. Some people like to walk to places, and have frequent and nearby public transport and facilities, why don't you understand that? Just as well, they will leave the rural areas for those who want to live there. :)

(And just to say our move to Spain DID work out. Although I got stir crazy after a while, the place itself was beautiful and the people made us so welcome, and for most of my eight years there I really enjoyed it. We came back just because it was never meant to be permanent, not because it didn't work out. Here's a website that the people who bought our house made, you'll see how lovely our house, village and surrounding area is: http://yegenhouse.webs.com/).

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton
