norton 360 problem

have Norton 360 security on my laptop with windows 8,when I switch pc on the Norton will work ok for everything except the scans it will not scan atall all other features on Norton work ok .have used the Norton uninstall tool to remove & downloaded Norton back on pc seems to work for a while then goes back to same problem any ideas how I solve this problem :mad:
