Sat/Sun 25th/26th May - What small DFW things will you do this weekend?

Options
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

    Good morning!

The sun is shining and it's Saturday!

DNMS - hope the new job is all going well and you're feeling better
Bobarella - hope you're feeling better too

Hugs to anyone that needs them

Been under the weather myself for a few day but quietly lurking on the thread. Feeling much more myself today though. And I had some excellent news yesterday. I have been promoted in work and given a massive pay rise as a result. Also, OH's trip is even more exciting than it sounded - he's going to be playing in the opera house is Rio!! Plus our wedding anniversary last week. So last night we had a little celebration and today the feeling continues because we have friends coming over.

    However, on to the mission!

    Check online banking

Bake cake for b-i-l's party (done! I am such an early bird today!)

    No heating as it's roasting

    Housework before friends arrive

Tend to seedlings - garden looking well last night (not been out yet). I got people in work to save all their coffee grounds to sprinkle around the newly emerged carrots and beetroots. Apparently slugs don't like them. Organic and free!

Going to see OH playing at free festival near Crewe (even more mse because OH will be earning money for playing :D)

Generally going to enjoy feeling happy today. :)

Have a good one everyone :)

Things for me this weekend - feeling pretty rotten still, just bunged up with cold but not out for a run health!

The job is going well thank you! ally any news on the job front?

Bob & Perni how lovely you two can motivate and spur each other on to the finish line :T

    * usual banking & shifting
    * quickly update spending diary where I can. Have really lost the plot recently so I might just have to draw a line and start again in June. so much going on at the moment it's been hard to keep up.
    * Housework this morning
    * make up food for my daughter's baby shower this afternoon
    * get dressed and nip to aldi and get subs and strawberry's in a minute so I don't get caught in Saturday madness traffic
    * might go out tonight but not sure will see how I feel later. If I do I will drive and not drink and will leave early as will want to climb into bed!
    * loads of washing & dry
    * seriously I am doing the first coat of gloss this weekend no messing! Hopefully the second as well
    * go for a walk tomorrow
    * do balance transfer to 0% card for stoozing
    * close down Halifax account - currently getting charged £1 pm for an account we no longer use :o

    Hi everyone,

Thanks for starting us Carrie, your OH's trip sounds amazing! Congratulations on the promotion, that payrise will get rid of your debt in no time! Happy anniversary to you as well.
DNMS - Enjoy the shower later :)
Bobarella - Fingers crossed some money comes your way so you can be back on track for Sept, but if not the end of the year is still very good & it means we can both start afresh in 2014 & do things properly! We had leftovers from other meals for lunches on Monday & Tuesday but the chicken did do us well, a total of 6 lunches & 2 main meals with generous portions isn't bad at all :)

    Today I have/will:-
    • Food from stores
    • Dinner will be a free buffet as we're going to another wedding reception this evening
    • Log calories & exercise on free apps
    • Check postcode lottery & birthday bingo
    • Charging phone via pc
    • Heating off
    • Check online banking
    • Check for new mystery shopping opportunities
    • Enter some comps
    • Do some surveys
    • Declutter & flylady
    • Free exercise again today
    • DH not drinking at reception again tonight, I only had 3 drinks last night which is good for me! Will aim to do the same again tonight
    • Decided to wear an outfit I already own for the reception tonight
    • Pop to Mr T's stick to list
    • Washing on eco setting using less than the recommended dose of washing liquid
    • Hang up to dry
    • Maybe get some things ready to put on fleabay tomorrow
Hope everyone is ok & has a great, MSE day x

    hello all

Sorry not been on here for a while, I have been unwell and also family member that I look after is now in hospital with a bleed to the brain. Kind of made me I need to work harder to get things cleared as I may be off my feet for a while with my suddenly found problem with my brain.

    So today:

-Taking things slowly as still bit unstable on feet but managed to clean and tidy kitchen and living room
    -Done swagbucks
    - Had breakfast and lunch from stores. will find something from dinner there so that we are not tempted to spend money
    - OH went and did some private work today and earnt an extra £30 after taking off petrol.
    - Want to iron at least 20 items
    - 2 loads of washing on line drying
    - write dinner plan for the next week when OH is here so I know his movements next week
    - work out how to sensibly pay bills that I have with the money in my bank account at the moment.
    - find some bits to put on ebay and facebook selling pages
    - do one poll surveys, valued opinions but be careful not too long as hurts head.
    - work out what we can do over weekend for free but may be looking after other relative

Got to get a move on now and get all bills paid off over next few weeks.

    Hi All

@Carrie - Huge congratulations on your promotion thats brilliant, must feel so happy right now.

@Determinded New MS - How long till your daughters baby arrives? Hope your cold hurries up and toddles off.

@Perni - Impressive rubber chicken high five!!! I am edging ever closer to the £5K mark, but gosh darn it, those pennies are just not rolling my way at the moment. Still, June should be a good month I think.

I read a really good motivational article this morning when I couldnt sleep, I need to search out the link. Esesentially it was reinforcing what we do on this thread, dont focus just on the main goal, i.e being debt free, because by doing so we only make ourselves feel bad about the journey, we need to focus on how much good we are doing every time we choose a brand drop, stretch a meal out even more. So even more celebrating the successes that will take each of us to our end point of owing no one! Anyway, article to follow.

    Night!

Good evening everyone. It's been almost a week since I last posted due to being away on holiday, however I have now returned with a renewed level of motivation and determination, as I want to get rid of the debt and sort my credit report in order to purchase a holiday home at the fantastic site that we went to (I have worked out that I should be able a good income with this idea, as well as having more freedom to get away)

Carrie - Thanks for starting us off this morning and congratulations on the promotion at work

    Today I have:
    1. Had a quick shower (I am now setting a timer so that I do not take more than 5 minutes in the shower) and got the kids dressed
    2. Done 4 loads of washing and got it hung outside thanks to the nice weather
    3. Found required school and work stuff for next week, so I just need to get it ironed now
    4. Stripped the beds and left them to air all day - DH is going to make them once he gets dd to bed
    5. Opened the windows and let some fresh summer air in
    6. Fed all of the pets
    7. Breakfast and lunch from stores
    8. Had a take away for dinner to celebrate 1st anniversery with DH, not mse but cheaper than going out
    9. Checked Nectar Adpoints, Swagbucks, Swapits, TCB, Postcode lottery and Birthday bingo
    10. Deleted spam emails and filed the other to be sorted over the next few days
    11. Made a list of food in the cupboards, fridge and freezer then sorted meal plans for next week using the list as much as possible and made a shopping list
    12. Done a minimal online shop
    13. Had the heating off all day and it is still off now but will put it on later so dd does not get too cold
    14. Ordered a cheap appointment diary for work so that I can get everything organised and get my future plans into motion
    15. Made an plan of action for tomorrow and its looking like another busy day
I think that is everything that I have managed to achieve today but I am happy with my progress for today so I just need to try and keep my motivation and determination going.

    Morning All

The sun is out here, its lovely. Off to work till 5 so that will keep me on the straight and narrow. So grateful for the bank holiday tommorow and a whole day of precious family time. Torn between trying to make it to the coast, or using membership for the Royal Palaces that we bought last year and have only used once. Could go back to Hamton Court, Tower of London, Kew or Kensington Palace. Ideally I think we all want the beach, but the weather makes it impossible to plan for. So we'll just have to see in the morning. Hope everyone has nice things planned?

Here is a link to the article I mentioned yesterday if anyone was interested. http://grace-marshall.com/is-your-definition-of-success-playing-havoc-with-your-motivation/

@MinnimousesMummy - nice to see you back, full of renewed energy by the sounds of it. A break really is the thing sometimes for kick starting stalled projects. Your idea sounds interesting too, is it a holiday apartment?

    Bye for now.

    Tenth Anniversary Combo Breaker
    Morning peeps

Beautiful sunshine today - great start to a week off! DD is with her dad today so I'm using the time to do all the boring stuff such as washing and cleaning so we can do fun stuff for the rest of the half term.

    This is me today:
    - Check banking
    - Stripped the beds
    - All washing to be hung on the line today
    - Take airer outside to expand washing hanging space
    - Rope DB3 into garden stuff
    - Mow lawn
    - Strim down/Weed flower beds
    - Load car up for tip trip
    - B/L/D from stores
    - Try not to use the car today! So much to do at home I shouldn't really go out
    - Decide whether to attend pub quiz for friends birthday...
    - Finish writing list for new house purchases required
    - Plot out DD's new room and plan her furniture, it's smaller than her current bedroom and I fear we might need some new items...

    Jx
Nothing to report as yet...give me a minute...!
