Also agree with getting them second hand, those tend to be the best garden tools as they've already shown they're durable by being passed on and not chucked out :)

I bought a more expensive fork, mainly because I wanted a good one that wasn't too heavy. I got a normal fork rather than a border fork.

We've got a Wolf long handle and some attachments and I have to say it's the best tool we've got. Yes they are VERY pricey but well worth it. Easy to store as it's just one handle with lot's of ends.

Wolf garden tools are not that expensive you can get the handle for around £16 or less the hoe attachment is about the same so compared to a decent fiskar hoe it works out the same price. Then once you have the handle adding a rake or cultivator actually works out cheaper than buying them with the handle attached, add to that the ease of transporting the tools they are a good investment.

Wolf Garten tools are excellent I just saved myself over £500 in tree surgeons costs thanks to £60 worth of poles and saw kit.

Re border forks - I don't use any other sort because I am small and light and weedy, they don't necessarily break more easily - test a range and get the biggest you are comfortable with.
I agree. With the smaller boarder fork you are lifting less weight so it is easier on the body than the bigger forks.
