Gas and Electric in credit.
I've just checked my mum's gas and electric and together they are in credit by £615 can/should I claim this back and change her supplier she's with Eon atm.
Also is it right they let her get so much in credit and not inform her?
Any advice would be much appreciate

Are these Credit values are listed on a very recent bill? - If the answer is yes, she should be claiming some of it back
If the figures are from an Online account or an Annual Statement, it could be that they have built up with her Direct Debit payments, but the next bill will largely diminish today's credit value.
For you to talk directly to Eon about your Mum's account, she needs to send them a letter authoriseing you to act on her behalf in manageing the account0 -
It is an online account and she does have paperless billing and pays it weekly at the post office and was set up to clear arrears so I know her payments can be lowered now it's in credit.
At first it was nearly £1000 in credit but that was estimated, then after I submitted a reading it came in at over £600 so should be up to date.0 -
As long as the it's billed up to date with the correct reads then yes take the refund. That size of credit for nearly all customers is excessive, especially at this time of year!Ex BG complaints veteran of 6 years!0

One possible caution is to think carefully about the price jump - if they are coming off a long fixed contract, the new one may be considerably higher.0 -

As insanegloss says, provided the account is billed up to date to actual meter readings, you can ask for the credit balance back at any time.
As your mum has an online account, she'll be being billed quarterly. The balance at each quarterly bill is shown on the first page. It's also shown on the Billing & Payments History screen.
If your mum lets us know, we'll sort out a refund for her.
