Pixmania - Choice of law - French

Not quite a rip-off warning, but a warning just so people are aware. Pixmania do have some very good offers and are pretty cheap, but watch out as your contract with them is under French law.

While this should not be a huge issue, as French and English laws should be pretty much the same on consumer law, there may be differences (don't know them, as I don't know French law!)

I think your warning is quite a valid one. I've had no probs with Pixmania but retailers here are loathe to exchange anything once it's in your hands. They'll send it away for repair and give it back to you. The usual 'create a fuss loudly' in shops does the trick particularly if you pretend you don't speak any French. They don't want to catch Mad Cow Disease off us!!!

I did think though that they were EU Distance Selling Regs so the usual 7 days should apply if you just don't want the item after that it's probably a repair.

    Hi

The Distance selling rules were in the form of a directive. This meant that every member state had to implement the regulation into their national legislation. In the UK it was implemented by the Distance Selling Regulations (not to be confused with an EU Regulation). France will have also implemented the distance selling directive, but via national law, which means some of the provisions may be different.

However Pixmania do offer a 7 day return policy, only problem is, it seems you have to send the product back to France (and I think at your own cost).
