I've had my TomTom for just over a year and need to update the maps, i checked the site and they want a small fortune to get my maps updated.

is there a way of getting cheaper map updates from a third party?

I have read that you can buy a 12 month update card of sorts, but you need to have the most current map installed first. is this true?

Does anyone knoe if this would work with an outdated map?

Lots of places to get FREE updates. But do you want to risk infecting your PC and killing the device?

Updates probably not worth paying for. Wait another year and buy a new one. Sell the old one and you will probably have spent less than just an update.

Cheers, but i cant believe how much the roads have changed in my area in the last year. I drove 20 miles from where i live, new roads, new round abouts, i spent most the trip driving through fields according to tomtom.

If they have changed this much in a year, i'd hate to drive further and rely on the tomtom
  • Depending on the price of the upgrade you might want to buy one with lifetime updates.
