From what you have said, it's most likely that the system needs to be balanced. You may end up calling someone in to do it but in the meantime it would be worth an hour of your time to do this:
With the heating on: Completely close ONE valve on each rad, then open that valve 1 turn. Wait about 5 - 10 mins. Check all the rads for heat. If the rad feels too hot, the close it's valve about an eighth of a turn, if it feels too cool the open its valve about an eighth of a turn. Only adjust in small increments and remember to wait for a few minutes for the temperature of the rads to stabilise. Good luck
Thank you, this is what im looking to do but have a few questions.
- You mention that i need to close one valve on each radiator, is this the inlet or outlet?
- I seen on another website about balancing which only mentioned closing the hot rads, not all of them. Is this correct?0 -

The whole issue and reason for balancing is to gt the heat to the radiator at the same temperature as the required flow temperature determined,, by the boiler thermostat setting, you DONT, if you get the rad hot then restrict it from getting hot:rotfl:
There are also 2 types of rad valves, Flow valve, for manual control, which should be on the flow side(inlet), and Lockhield valve, which should be on the return side(outlet), which is fixed to achieve balancing when adjusted to allow a minimum flow at full temperature through the rad;)
ONCE you have determined which valve is which,You THEN go through the process of closing the lockshield valves, allowing the system to get up to working temperature, open each lockshield in turn slightly until you get hot water flowing through the rad, starting from the nearest to the pump, and work your way one at a time to the farthest away doing the same process:)
ONCE this is done to double check, go back tothe beginnning and check that all rads are still hot, and if not open each lockshield valve where the heat has reduced flow a little bit more until flow returns:cool:Signature removed0
