Item from ebay just hasnt worn well

Any advice here please.

We bought an item on eBay the last day of last year. Its a wooden garden item and we expected it to last for years. However I looked at it last week-end and its developed some very deep cracks - not just weathering but they certainly risk the integrity of the item.

We contacted the seller and they seemed very sorry and asked for some pictures - which were sent. They also asked us to confirm when the item was bought - since then we've heard nothing and have sent a chase message.

Realise its months after purchase and this 45 days window (used to) exist - but on item like where its already had 'protection' on it (and we stained it too to enhance protection further) we didnt expect this.

Any ideas what next steps are available for us? Hopefully we've not been blocked as people tend to suggest at a whim on here!!

Is it something you had delivered by post or from a local supplier. The distance makes everything so much more difficult, but you should really expect the same result atthe end of the day from eBay to your local garden centre.

Without pictures, it's difficult to say. Wood is antural product and not entirely possible to predict but a good seller would be having a damn good look at it regardless.

Your message about blocking buyers; blocking buyers doesn't stop messages (although there is another way to do that). Normally blocking people, is those who have already been unreasonable, bullies, people who hold sellers to ransom, generally !!!! the seller off for no good reason.

The item was delivered by post. All bubble wrappeda and arrived in great condition.

Its only since its been installed that the problem has arisen.

Agree totally about wood weathering etc but its far worse than that.

did they mention warranty in the listing??

Yes it was a (small) business - no warranty in listing. Not a business Ive heard of before.
