Redundancy and overtaken Holiday

Hi,
Need some advise regarding my final redundancy & wage slip. I was advised 2 months ago that my position was moving to another part of the country and therefore my role was redundant.
Luckily I was fortunate to find myself a new job straightaway however when I received my final pay packet from my former employee my redundancy was £400 short due holiday I had over taken.
My holiday runs from Jan to Jan but my mother passed away in November and I took some time off to sort her estate out plus some time to get my head straight. At time I had no idea my role could come up for redundancy or I wouldn't of took any.
I am also angry because I had to take 2 days Holiday during the redundancy consolation period. 1 for a interview and 1 to scatter my mothers remains in her home town but was told I would have to use my holiday allowance.
During the whole process I was informed about what my redundancy would be but it was never mentioned about having to pay any over used holiday. I emailed them to voice my anger regarding this and they now want me to attend a grievance meeting even though I no longer work for them and my attendance would mean booking holiday with my new employer!
Very confused if I have any legal rights etc or if I am simply going to have to accept it and move on.
Any advise would be appreciated.
