Not sure if this is the right place please feel free to move it if not!!!
My daughter has been looking for a car and has come across one she likes in the auto trader. Its about 1 1/2 hours drive away, the only thing is the chap said there is no log book with it, is this a big problem? Should she steer away from it? How easy is it to get the log book? Its just a long drive if its not worth getting without the log book. Anyone can help????

Hello Cherokee
I'll move your thread to the 'Motoring & Public Transport' board.
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

Don't waste the effort, if you've already got the seller offering one reason not to buy - WHAT ELSE IS THERE!!
I'm sure you'll find more local examples, of cars she likes, that you can buy from GENUINE sellers!
& if you clik on http://www.honestjohn.co.uk clik Car By Car Breakdown you'll have lots good & bad info on loadfs of cars!! Plus a really helpful moteor only, related site!

What reason did they tell you there was no log book. It may be genuine but rings alarm bells..........could be a repaired cat c car which needs an mot n inspection before logbook is reissued...could be any amount of things....looking for a car ourselves this past couple weeks and have now decided we wont travel more than half an hour ish as after many car viewings and driving loads of miles havnt found a genuine car yet! despite asking all the relevant questions about history condition accident damage etc 4 cars out of the last 5 were all cat c or d! and 3 of those were saying they were private sellers NOT lol. We will be back on the look this weekend only after really asking and pushing for more information from the sellers. Good Luck in your Search....If it seems a really good deal look closer again and if you decide you are interested....definately get a HPI report.0

It depends how old and how much the car is. For £500 if the car works and does not make noise go for it. If the car is £££ stay clear.0
