Old Stylers! What can I do with these Bananas!

Well I went shopping yesterday and got 6 nice ripe bananas for 10p :j, today I made a yummy gluten free bannoffee pie with 3 of them and even though the other 3 only owe me 5p I cannot bring myself to just bin them :o. I could feed them as they are too the kids, but with DS also having made an apple pie at school they may not take kindly to having a banana chucked at them with all these lovely fruity alternatives available :D.

I do prefer to make sweet things like cookies and cakes, Dh absolutely loathes banana bread so thats out, I dont have any bicarbonate of soda and baking soda has gluten in and I do prefer to make gluten free if I can so DS isnt left out just to make life difficult.

So what can I make?

Here is a list of all the baking ingredients I have to help anyone with an idea :o

Gluten Free Self Raising Flour
Gluten Free Plain FLour
Demerera Sugar
Caster Sugar
Granulated Sugar
Vanilla Extract
Sultanas
Honey
Golden Syrup
Treacle
Cocoa Powder
Icing Sugar
Gluten Free Oats
approx 100g Double Cream (left over from the pie)
Eggs
Butter

I do have some baking powder if no-ones got a gluten free idea, oh and about half a bar of cheap dark chocolate :D

So can anyone help me, cos im stumped :rotfl:

    Banana and chocolate cup cakes
BBQ'd/ Grilled Bananas in their skins - cook until the skins go black and then peel and drizzle with honey/syrup/choc sauce etc and serve with ice cream :)

If you have no other suggestions that work then throw them in the freezer. In their skins they'll freeze perfectly to come out at a later date for banana bread or muffins or anything else of that ilk.

If you fancy using them this weekend then consider the River Cottage Boost bars: http://www.rivercottage.net/recipes/honey-peanut-butter-booster-bars/

I've made them differently each time so they seem to tolerate lots of playing about with ingredients. At its simplest you could use the bananas, the GF oats and the chocolate chopped into chunks. My only observation would be that when I've made them I've halved the amount of sugar and/or honey and they are still pretty sweet. They freeze fantastically well and defrost in few minutes. MrMands gets a bit jumpy these days if there isn't a batch in the freezer :)

    Happy baking,

    Caramelised bananas in pancakes.
They can also be used up in chutney.

Hi, I was thinking of making this with my 3 sad looking bananas; http://www.thelondoner.me/2011/09/dairy-free-chocolate-ice-cream.html think I'll swap maple syrup for peanut butter though. X

Did you know you can eat banana skin. Wipe down, get rid of the hardest pieces, cut into chunks, blitz, add maybe one banana or yoghurt, poor into ice cube tray.
So bans at 68p kg become 34pence kg

Hiya probably a bit late to reply but do a search online for gwyneth paltrows banana ice cream, it's made with almond milk so dairy free as well. I haven't tried it , looks pretty good though

I was just thinking the same and have found these gorgeous banana ice cream recipes, basically just bananas frozen then whizzed up and any bits you have in the cupboard. I'm doing the nutella one I think for tea.

Frozen banana mashed with peanut butter is scrummy. My DCs love to have a frozen banana instead of an ice lolly (in this case don't freeze them in their skins, put them in a sandwich bag or something like that).
