Sometimes old threads get bumped by a spammer, then someone else replies, the spam gets deleted, and the reply looks odd.
I'm not saying that happened here, as I wasn't watching earlier, but it's one possibility (though it doesn't look like a thread subject to attract spam).0 -

one of the things you do get in some places as well is charges for credit cards, or even some places not taking them which this gets around
on the Santander problems i'm not defending them but i have found it depends who you get in touch with as to how helpful they are, i.e. two different call centre staff!
Edit: just looked for dollar accounts and they do seem hard to come by!0
