Thank you so much for the ticket, I had an amazing day blown away yesterday, so many inspirational women out there I'm in ore, picked up a lot of helpful and insightful info, there could be hope for me yet!
Enormous thanks for the opportunity of attending this, can thoroughly recommend anyone attends future events
Repects to working mums most definately and thanks to Mumsnet x0 -
This was the first time they had run the Workfest event, so there were a few teething problems - lunch provided but nowhere to eat said lunch, seemingly zero consideration for food allergies... But they turned the gents into another toilet for the ladies, set up baby change facilities, were welcoming of babes in arms... Etc. So on the logistics side, there was room for improvement, but didn't do badly.
Onto the speakers - there were a lot of inspirational people talking. Some of the ones who stood out for me were Sarah Brinkley, Geoff Ramm (yes, I know, a man at the event!), Heather McGregor (Miss Moneypenny), Jessica Benjamin and Yasmina Siadatan (who stood in for James Caan).
One of the messages that struck me was about planning time for yourself as well as planning time for work - how many us don't bother and feel constantly knackered?
I know many of us haven't been impressed with Super Scrimpers on here, but actually, Heather McGregor is a remarkable lady, with a career in investment banking, a doctorate and her own business. I have a new found respect for her, and I found her insights thought-provoking.
I wish this had been aimed at women more generally, this was a useful day out for all females, not just mums - but maybe next time.
I would recommend this event, I think the speakers they organised were very high quality, and even if you think you know it all, you'll come away with something to think about. Oh, and a great goodie bag.
Thank you, MSE and Mumsnet! :beer:0
