Cheapest Earphones (long run)

Does anyone know if there's a way to find out which brand of earphones are cheapest in the long run? Or has any suggestions based on how long earphones have lasted them?

I'm not bothered about high sound quality etc, just want whichever ones are cheapest in the long run. Ie if pair A were 99p and lasted 2 months, pair B were £2 and lasted 6 months and pair C were £5 and lasted a year I'd go with pair B as over a year they're cheapest at £4.

Ringo is dead right, I have a pair of Sonys I bought about 24 years ago, I still use several times a week, still in perfect condition, put away in their case every time - care and attention works wonders and spending money on a decent pair in the first place. I think they cost £20 back in the day! So that works out at 83p per year, so... in the long run... the cheapest :) I suspect such a pair today would be about £60.
  • Alternatively, buy something good, then learn how to fix it using this - https://sugru.com/ rather than the normal trick of sellotape around a broken connection

These are apparently very good for about a fiver - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Monoprice-Enhanced-Hi-Fi-Isolating-Earphones/dp/B007VEQ2UU/

I also have the same question for earphone/mic headsets; I now have 3 broken sets!

Is that sugru stuff not just silicon, available from DIY stores in caulking gun size for a fraction of the price?

    Not quite ..

"sugru is the exciting new self-setting rubber that can be formed by hand. It moulds like play-dough, bonds to almost anything and turns into a strong, flexible silicone rubber overnight."

Wouldnt fancy trying to hand mould the normal silicon that comes out of those calking gun tubes

Back to the phones : Creative 630s for me
