Buying New Barratts Apartment.

My husband and I have been thinking a buying an apartment as a buy-to-let for some time, but it was only yesterday we realised that we could up the budget to £100k.

Today we have seen a brand new two-bed Barratt apartment on at £101k, on a brownfield site just outside our city centre (easy walking distance from centre and rail and bus stations). The lady we saw at Barratts say they offer a scheme whereby Barratts will give you 12% return for the first year (in our case £12k) even if you rent your apartment out yourself and get rent from it. She has given us a flyer detailing this.

This seems too good to be true, does anyone know anything about it?

    Because they can't shift them and they know they are overpriced ?

    Tell them to knock the £12k off the purchase price.

    I would rather they gave me the 12% off the asking price as it wont be taxed as income.

    But they wont as they want to keep the land registry sold prices looking as high as possible.

    There are some second-hand ones on the development (we have just noticed) for £77k. :) They were new in 2012.

    Will look at those instead.
