Can i claim back this L&G PPI ive been paying?

Ive been paying legal and general PPI on my mortgage since i first got it in 2003. Direct debit payments are 16.66 a month, i assumed teh payment was for something else but when i have recently looked into its not, its ppi and i cannot remember this even being mentioned when taking the mortgage out..

Am i entitiled to claim this back or not?

I have rang them and requested account info etc.. I have had no correspondance at all from them since the thing was setup..

Any help appreciated!

1 - you havent given any reason to suggest you have grounds for complaint
2 - it is pre-regulation and unless it was sold by a bank, it is unlikely any complaint would be considered (e.g. if a mortgage adviser did it then forget it)

There is no entitlement to ask for your money back. You are making a complaint about a wrong doing. You have to give your reasons why you think there was a wrong doing and in some cases provide evidence to support it.

So, who sold it to you and what actually are your reasons for complaint?

When i originally took out the mortgage i cant remember this even being offered and im not entirely sure who even set this up? when i called them apparantly it was setup when the mortgage was first taken out (possibly by estate agent, not entirely sure??).. I have requested them send all the policy details to me, maybe that would shed some light?

I dont know the ins and outs just heard alot about reclaiming mis-sold PPI, and i beleive i have been sold this, or signed up for it, without even fully knowing about it.

It would have been a signed application form. The details would have been followed up in the post as well. That said, it is very common for people to only remember a small amount of what is said. Studies have shown that around 2/3rds of the meeting conversation is forgotten in a very short period. Mainly the key things are remembered and insurance is often not thought of as a key thing.

Knowing who you bought it off is important as it would be them that you complain to. Not L&G. However, if its pre-regulation and an estate agent then you can give up now.

Even on a post regulation case, that is a weak complaint reason. Not remembering is not grounds for complaint. You dont even remember who set up it. So, remembering the conversations is even less likely.

So you've been happily paying a valid insurance product (which I'm sure you'd have happily claimed on had you needed to) for 10 years, now suddenly it was "mis sold"? LOL!
