Always speak to your LL its a case of if you don't ask you don't get and worse they can say is NO.
When i almost lost my home a few months ago waiting for benefits to be sorted. My LL was a bit iffy as they had never had a housing benefit tenant and of course they assumed the worst. I paid token payments of whatever i could afford to show willing and i kept them informed every step of the way.
It was stressful, but we got there and my LL even praised my efforts for not giving up and keeping a roof over my children's heads, and thanked me for opening their eyes and they are now going to accept more HB tenants, as I have given the 1st hand experience of how it all works. And they realised it wasn't as scary as they thought and you can have respectable, nice, polite, people claiming HB, we are not all drug taking dole dossiers.
So keep them informed every step, the more open and honest you are the better. Don't feel ashamed to ask, everyone at some point needs a little help.:TIs thankful to those who have shared their :T
:T fortune with those less fortunate :T
:T than themselves - you know who you are!:T0 -
Well, good news (I think!!) Been phoning TC helpline daily for an update. They have now said my award has been accepted and they are just waiting on the system calculating the payments due. I am really hoping this is true and it's not too long now!
Seems that if you kick up enough fuss they eventually do something about it!!!
Thanks to everyone for all the support, hasn't been easy. Will keep you all updated!0
